Lima, Ohio (WIMA) - The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office is a recipient of close to 9-thosand dollars in federal funding from the Department of Justice through the national Bullet Proof Vest Program.

Through the Bulletproof Vest Program states- and units of local government are reimbursed up to fifty percent of the cost of each unit of eligible body armor purchased for law enforcement officers.

They also received over thirty thousand dollars from the Ohio Criminal Justices Services in Justice Assistance Grants.

The money will allow the sheriff’s office to pay for wages and fringes for one additional road patrol deputy.
