Allman Family Revival Returning To Celebrate Gregg Allman's Birthday

18th Annual Americana Music Festival & Conference - Jamtown

An all-star band led by Devon Allman and Duane Betts is launching a mini-tour this December in honor of the birthday of the late-Southern rock icon Gregg Allman.

Now in its third year, 'The Allman Family Revival' has expanded to concerts in three U.S. cities, including San Francisco, Denver and New York City.

In addition to Devon and Betts' Allman Betts Band, the all-star lineup includes Cheap Trick front man Robin Zander, Big Head Todd & The Monsters front man Todd Park Mohr, guitarist Robert Randolph, Conan music director and guitarist Jimmy Vivino and more performing on select shows.

A portion of the proceeds from each show will go to the School of Rock to help fund after-school music programs, filling the void left by nationwide cuts to school music programs.

The Allman Betts band formed some months after the first memorial concert for Gregg Allman, Devon's father. Devon and Duane, the son of Allman Brothers Band co-founder Dickey Betts, bonded at the concert and soon agreed to combine their mutual songwriting talent into a new project.

"There happened to be a lot of chemistry," Devon said in a May interview with Q104.3 New York's Out of the Box. "It was completely organic, and it was completely real. We wrote a whole record [Down To The River, available now]."
